Arrival & Departure Policy & Procedure

Intent

Little Munchkins at all times want to ensure that children and staff are safe and secure within our care.

Aim

We aim to provide safe and secure environment for all children and staff alike, this environment should allow children and staff to move around freely and feel secure within that environment.

Methods

Pre-School Visitors

• The Front entrance is locked at all times, any one wishing to enter the Pre-School will have to ring the door bell on the front door.
• A staff member will respond to the doorbell by going to the garden gate, from which they have view of the front door. This method allows the staff member to see who’s calling and ask for identification before allowing entry.
• All visitors are asked to sign visitors book on entry and also on departure.

Pre-School Arrival & Departure of Children

• Arrival
  
  At the start of each session a member of staff will open the garden gate and allow parents and children to enter, this member of staff monitor the entrance door from the garden to the hall and will mark off each child as they enter the Pre-School building, they all so stop any children leaving the premises. After all parents have left the garden gate is closed and locked with the hall door closed, the staff member carry’s out a head count.
   
• Departure
  
  The children are assemble on the floor mat and supervised by staff, one member of staff will then go to the garden gate and allow parent / carers into the hall to collect their children, this member staff then monitors the doorway to ensure that only children with their parents/ carers leave the hall, At this time the staff member crosses the children off the register. 

Methods

Nursery Visitors

• The front entrance is always locked and chained, all staff members have full view of how is calling. All visitors are asked to show identification and also to sign the visitor book on entry and also when departing.

Nursery Arrival of Children

• The nursery run a register in which all children they are sign in and out.
  Room deputies must carry out head count and check this with the number of children registered in at breakfast time and before any activities start.

Nursery Departure of Children

• When children are collected the room deputy signs them out.

Password System.

• Little Munchkins operates a pass word system for the collection of children by someone other than the parent or carer, If the parent arranges for any one to collect the child other than themselves they must inform the Nursery / Pre-School Supervisor to avoid any mis-understanding. We operate this system for the safety of your child and to insure the right person collects the child, (Your password is requested on your registration form).
