Birth To Three Policy & Procedure

Intent

It is our intention to provide support to children under three within the guidelines of the Birth to Three Framework.
 
Aim

We aim to ensure that all children under three years old are given the support and encouragement to engage in a range of activities to help them progress throughout the four aspects of the Framework and gain confidence.

Methods

Using the four aspect cards in the Birth to Three matters Framework, recognize through active play which areas promote each part of the four aspects.

A Strong Child:
 Growing awareness of self
 Realising s/he is separate and different from others
 Recognising personal characteristics and preferences.
 Finding out what s/he can do

A Skilful Communicator:
 Gaining attention and making contact
 Positive relations
 Being with others
 Encourage conversation.

A Competent Learner:
 Making connections through the senses and movement.
 Finding out about the environment and other people.
 Becoming playfully engaged and involved.
 Making patterns, comparing, categorising, classifying.

A Healthy Child:
 Being special to someone.
 Being able to express feelings
 Developing healthy dependence.
 Developing healthy independence.
